Fosters are a critical part of All Good Dogs Rescue. By agreeing to foster, you are committing to providing a safe, loving, and structured temporary home while we work to find the right permanent placement.

We provide everything you need:

  • Veterinary care, including exams and medically necessary treatment as approved by the rescue.
  • Core vaccines and preventatives, including age-appropriate vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick prevention, and heartworm.
  • Food and basic supplies, including dog food, collar, leash, and identification
  • Crate and bedding
  • Behavioral and training support, including guidance from the rescue and access to professional trainers when appropriate
  • Ongoing foster support, including help with medical questions, behavioral concerns, and general foster guidance

Foster Responsibilities & Expectations

  • Providing daily care for your foster dog until adoption. Foster placements may be as short as two weeks, but often last several months. We cannot guarantee how long it will take for a dog to be adopted.
  • Transporting your foster to veterinary appointments as needed, including exams, procedures, and follow-up visits as approved by the rescue.
  • Bringing your foster to scheduled vaccination and preventive care appointments coordinated by the rescue.
  • Working on basic training and manners, including crate training, leash skills, house training, and appropriate behavior in the home.
  • Participating in professional training or behavior support, if recommended or required by the rescue.
  • Providing regular potty breaks throughout the day and maintaining a consistent routine.
  • Ensuring your foster receives appropriate daily exercise and enrichment, such as walks, playtime, and mental stimulation.
  • Attending adoption events with your foster dog when reasonably available and with advance notice.
  • Transporting your foster for professional photos or videos to help with marketing and adoption efforts.
  • Picking up foster supplies from Raleigh (or other designated locations) as needed, including food, crates, medications, or other approved items.
  • Maintaining regular communication with the rescue, including updates on behavior, health, training progress, and any concerns that arise.
  • Notifying the rescue promptly of any medical issues, behavioral concerns, or emergencies involving your foster dog.
  • Following all rescue policies, including those related to medical care, training methods, introductions to other animals or people, and adoption protocols.
